The medieval times led the way for some very interesting and wonderful crafts. One of the most noted and popular craft was that of the trumpet. This craft was reserved for the most respected and prospects were carefully selected.

When they were part of troops during medieval times, trumpeters would be very heavily guarded. This is because they were relied upon to deliver important news or instructions to members of the army located in separate areas.

Even though it was highly guarded in the army, the trumpet was also a craft that was used for musical enjoyment in medieval times. There were large improvements to the trumpet as far as metal work and design. These trumpets consisted of one coiled tube with no valves that relied on changing out crooks for a key change. This type of trumpet allowed for the playing of one overtone at a time.
