He began his career when he was 17, while playing locally in Buffalo, New York with Spyro Gyra. From 1979 to 1983, he studied at the Berklee College of Music.
Anthony Gorruso has collaborated with well known musicians and performers such as Ray Charles, Sammy Davis Junior, Liza Minnelli, Dean Martin, The Duke Ellington Orchestra and others.
In 1993, he played flugelhorn on a CD from singer Jon Lucien called “Mother Nature’s Son”. His Broadway career is significant, ranging from 2nd trumpet in Spamalot, first trumpet on 42nd Street and first trumpet in Gypsy, among many other opportunities.
Although he had an injury that nearly ended his career in May 1998, he is still on the Broadway and recording scene. He lives in northern New Jersey.
